The Operating System for Creative Professionals

We’re releasing the first set of features for our private preview covering the primitives needed to run a client project.

Release note

Watson is open: the operating system for creative businesses

Creative work does not fit inside traditional business software. A branding engagement starts with ambiguity, not a ticket. A web build sharpens its own requirements halfway through. A campaign gets interpreted, debated, and reshaped before it gets produced. Yet the tools most creatives run their business on assume the opposite: linear stages, stable handoffs, repeatable process.
So we patch it together. A task manager here, a shared drive there, a client thread buried in email, a timer in a browser tab. Every project lives in five places, and the context that makes the work good lives in none of them.

Today we’re opening the Watson private preview. Watson is a system of record built for how creative businesses actually operate: one connected environment where clients, projects, conversations, files, and time all know about each other.

One place where the work actually lives

Watson starts with your Network. Every organization and contact you work with lives in one filterable, taggable directory, linked to real profiles rather than copied into a spreadsheet. Private Rosters let you group the people you trust, and invite off-platform collaborators to opt in to Watson when they’re ready.

From there, Projects carry the shape of real creative work. Action items, subtasks, milestones, stages, and phases sit on a single timeline. Conversations attach to the project they’re about. Requests for approval, review, or changes are first-class objects, not comments you hope someone scrolls back to find. Your Inbox surfaces only what needs a decision, so the day starts with what matters instead of a wall of notifications.

A client experience that feels like yours

The Client Portal is where Watson earns its keep. Every client gets a calm, branded space to see the projects you’ve shared, exchange files, respond to requests, and approve rounds. You decide what’s visible. They see a professional, organized, branded front door with your name on it where you can start to customize as your own, not a generic app with your logo pasted in the corner.
Approvals recorded in the portal land in your inbox. Files they upload show up in the project. Nothing gets re-forwarded, and nothing gets lost between “sent” and “signed off.”

Files and Pages, versioned and in context

Every resource in Watson, whether a file, a link, or a written Page, is attached to the work it belongs to. Versions stay together. Previews render inline. A private Page is simply one only you can see, so briefs, notes, and client-facing documents share one library instead of three apps. Visibility follows the object, so sharing with a client is a setting rather than an export.

Built for solo creatives first

This preview is for independent designers, developers, photographers, studios of one, and small shops who are tired of running the business in tabs. Full invoicing and payments, calendar sync, proposals, contracts, forms, automations, and team workspaces are all on the roadmap. We’re shipping the core loop first: bring on a client, run the project, communicate through the portal, manage the files.

Get that loop right and everything else has a place to connect.

Watson is rolling out to the waitlist in small groups this week so we can listen closely and ship fast. Request access, and tell us what your stack looks like today. We built Watson because creative businesses deserved this system a long time ago, and we’d like you to help us finish it.
