Questions & Answers
When can I buy?
Soon. Watson is in beta and purchase opens at launch. Founding membership starts with a successful paid Studio subscription. Waitlist membership does not reserve a founding place.
What exactly is early-bird pricing?
20% off Studio for as long as you keep the subscription: $20 a month or $200 a year. Seats and storage bill at the standard rate. No code.
Do my clients pay anything?
No. Never. Invite as many as you have.
Does Community include the client portal?
No. Community is for one person running their own projects, tasks, and files. The portal, and the free client accounts that come with it, are Studio.
What counts as an active project?
One that isn't completed or archived. Community gives you ten at a time. Archive one and the slot comes back.
Is there a free trial of Studio?
Community is free for as long as you like, no card needed. Once purchase opens, upgrade whenever you want and downgrade with a refund of the unused term. That's the trial.
What's the difference between a team seat and a client seat?
A team seat is someone on your side, inside your workspace. A client seat is someone on their side, inside your portal. Studio includes five team seats and charges $5 a month for each one after. Client seats are unlimited and included in Studio plans and above.
How does storage work?
Community includes 5 GB, Studio includes 150 GB, counted across every version of every file you keep. Past that it's pay-as-you-go: $0.033 per GB-month on Community, $0.03 on Studio. Links to Figma or Drive don't count against you.
What's a GB-month?
One gigabyte, kept for one month. Watson checks how much you're storing every day, so you only pay for the extra you actually keep, for as long as you keep it. Ten gigabytes over your allowance for three days costs about the same as one gigabyte over for a month. Delete or archive files and the charge stops the next day.
What happens if I go over my storage?
Uploads pause until you free some space or turn on pay-as-you-go. Nothing you've uploaded goes anywhere.
Can I change plans?
Any time, once purchase opens. Upgrades apply right away and are prorated. Downgrades apply right away and refund what's left of your Studio term.
What happens if I cancel?
Your workspace drops to Community when the period you've paid for ends. Projects and files stay. If you're over Community's limits you can still read and download everything; you'll just need to archive or free up space before adding more.
What if a payment fails?
Watson pauses anything that grows the workspace, like new projects, invitations, and uploads, until the bill is settled. Your clients' portal stays up, read-only, and they can still reply and approve. Nothing is deleted.
Is there a plan above Studio?
Pro is coming. It isn't priced yet, and we'd rather say so than guess.
Does Watson take a cut of what my clients pay me?
Only on payments that run through Watson, and only once invoicing launches. Money you collect anywhere else is yours, no fee.
Can I use my own domain for the client portal?
Not on Studio. Custom domains are planned for Pro. Until then your portal lives on a subdomain with your studio's name.
Is there a discount for paying yearly?
Yes. The year costs ten months. Founding pricing stacks on top.
